Review : A teenage sorceress called Nimue meets young Arthur in his quest to find a powerful and ancient sword created by Frank Miller & Tom Wheeler based on a graphic novel. It has very much a graphic novel style to it when we are talking about the interesting and somewhat fun transitions from scene to scene. The introduction was cool, the music was good, and the over-the-top blood splatter that you see even hit the screen when they are in the middle of the battle. I found all those elements to be cool, even though I haven’t read the graphic novel. The performances by the characters were solid as a whole in this show. I felt some of the characters in this series were over the top sometimes focusing more on the villainous names. I thought Gustaf Skarsgård was really good in this show and Arthur was a really interesting character, the way we see the past a little bit and joining forces all of these characters that we grow to love against this evil is fun, entertaining, a bit familiar but definitely a different style for this show for sure but cursed is a show I feel that’s going to be bit more divisive than maybe it was intended. The issue with season 1 is that it doesn’t quite capture the tone that it needed to capture here; it sometimes felt that the show is meant for younger audience. The story has slow down at points, pacing is a problem. It is show which has a lot of potential for the future.

Trivia : The mythologies on which the characters are based indicate Nimue was schooled in magic by Merlin before, ultimately, binding and imprisoning him forever. Other myths have her becoming the 'Lady of the Lake' who raised Sir Lancelot, returning Excalibur to King Arthur and, eventually, taking his body to the realm of Avalon.
